On 20th June 2016 UKIP hosted a 'We Want Our Country Back' EU Referendum meeting at Sage Gateshead. In opposition to the racist, xenophobic, homophobic and bigoted views spread by UKIP, we staged a peaceful music protest, singing songs of unity, peace, solidarity, hope and justice! Over 60 people; children, families, NESS choir members, friends and supporters came to spread a message of hope - that ALL are welcome in Gateshead/Newcastle. 'VIVA LA PALESTINE' RAFEEF ZIADAH ALBUM LAUNCH 29/5/16

On May 29th 2016, we hosted the NE album launch of acclaimed Palestinian activist, academic and spoken word artist Rafeef Ziadah at The Cluny. Accompanied by fellow activist musician and producer Phil Monsour, Rafeef performed an emotive, enlightening and enraging selection of poetry set to an evocative soundscape. The gig also featured performances by us, The Coast Road and the Middlesborough-based Palestinian Rapper and Poet Shahid N.W.A.
